Payment in full is due on the day service is rendered, unless other written arrangements are made in advance and agreed upon.

To secure appointments, all patients must provide a form of payment information which is stored and protected electronically on our secure system SimplePractice.

We are able to use most major credit cards and HSA and FSA cards, after a letter of medical necessity has been written after the initial evaluation.

Superbills
We are considered "out of network" and our providers do not take any commercial insurance, Medicaid, or Medicaid plans.

If you plan to submit your own SUPERBILL form to your insurance provider for reimbursement, first contact your insurance provider prior to your appointments to understand the details of your benefits.

If you are eligible to use your out of network benefits, we can email you a form, commonly known as a SUPERBILL, as noted above, that you can use to submit a claim with your insurance. These plans may vary widely and the total cost of each of our sessions depends on your individual plan and deductibles.

Why See A Cash-Based Occupational Therapist
Why is Shine Therapies a cash-based practice?

We believe in giving your child therapy based on their needs, not insurance limitations. Going cash-based allows us to focus on what really matters: helping your child succeed without jumping through red tape.
Doesn’t insurance cover OT?

Sometimes. But insurance often limits how many visits you get, and may deny coverage altogether for things like ADHD or executive functioning concerns. Even when coverage exists, reimbursement can be low or unpredictable—and that can impact how much time your child actually spends with a licensed therapist.
How does insurance-based OT usually work?

-
Waitlists
-
Shorter sessions
-
Less time with the OT
-
More focus on billing codes than actual progress
Some clinics even prioritize scheduling for families with better-paying insurance plans. It’s not fair—but it’s common.
What’s different about cash-based OT?

-
You set the goals—not an insurance company
-
More 1:1 time with a licensed OT
-
Personalized care that fits your family, not a billing system
-
No surprises or hidden costs
Plus, many insurance plans allow for out-of-network reimbursement with a superbill (an itemized receipt we can provide).

Do you take this decision seriously?

Absolutely. As a mom, I’ve lived the stress of navigating the system. This model gives Shine the freedom to offer high-quality, consistent support without compromise. Your child’s success matters too much to let insurance decide what they do or don’t need.
